- 66m 216' 7"ft In 2002 and 2003 three 66m Offshore Patrol Vessels for the German Border Police replaced older units in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Special aim has been given to an improved seakeeping behaviour and manoeuvrability of the vessels. The new vessel's wide radius of action makes them ideal for performance of their maritime duties. This guarantees long operational periods at sea and facilitates close national and international cooperation between (border) police forces. The hybrid propulsion concept consists of a large diesel engine for high speeds and an electric motor powered by the ships’ network. This hybrid system offers economically efficient diesel-electric propulsion up to 12 knots - the speed range mostly used for patrol duties.
